Gear shimming is a process, more of a skill, you could say a very technical and professional, almost masterful skill, that distinguishes a technician from a hobbyist. Mass-produced weapons often have poorly shimmed components, so despite the higher initial cost and “upgrade parts straight out of the box,” they only last a few thousand shots.
Shims are designed only for 4mm shaft gears, such as PandoRA from RetroArms.
Sometimes a small shim at the cost of a few crowns is the right solution for fixing a weapon or part worth thousands.
