Installing a weaker spring is one of the basic ways to adjust the muzzle energy of a gun to the rules of a particular playing field. The spring is made from high-quality steel wire and its ends are ground and polished. It uses progressive winding, meaning a variable pitch between individual coils. This design is intended to provide reliable spring operation, reduce wear on the gearbox mechanism and reduce the risk of the spring gradually settling. The M90 designation represents an approximate spring power rating. Theoretically, it corresponds to a muzzle velocity of around 90 m/s with 0.20g BBs, or approximately 0.81 J. However, this is not a guaranteed value. Actual muzzle velocity and energy may vary depending on the air-seal efficiency, cylinder, piston, nozzle, hop-up system, or the length and diameter of the inner barrel. The spring is suitable for most standard AEG gearboxes, such as V2 and V3. This allows it to be used in a wide range of electric airsoft guns when building a new setup or adjusting the power of an existing AEG.
